Part 1: Cleaning Your Safety Gloves (The Right Way)

Not all gloves are washed the same way. Different materials require different methods.


For Cut-Resistant & Coated Gloves (PU, Nitrile, Latex)

Most cut-resistant and coated gloves can be washed—and should be washed regularly. Laundering removes harmful chemicals, perspiration, and everyday grit that can weaken protective fibers and seams .


Best practice:

* Machine wash at 40°C (104°F) with mild detergent 

* Do not use bleach or fabric softener—these attack rubber and synthetic fibers 

* Air dry—never use a machine dryer or direct heat source 

* For coated gloves with foam or micro-porous surfaces, avoid aggressive solvents that could damage the coating

Some gloves are hand-wash only—check the manufacturer's label.


For Chemical-Resistant Gloves (Rubber, Nitrile, Neoprene)

Best practice:

* Rinse thoroughly with water after each use to remove chemical residues 

* Use mild soap and lukewarm water—water temperature should not exceed 65°C 

* For stubborn contamination (oil, tar, paint), use appropriate solvents sparingly, then rinse immediately 

* Dry thoroughly before storage—place gloves upright over a support rod or cardboard tube to allow air circulation

For Leather Gloves (Welding, Heat Protection)

* Do NOT wash leather gloves frequently—it dries out the leather

* After drying, apply a leather balm to maintain suppleness and durability 

* Do not store in plastic bags—leather needs to breathe

* Air dry—do not use heat or sunlight

* Apply a light dusting of talcum powder after drying to prevent sticking

1.Roll the glove cuff tightly toward the palm to trap air inside 

2.Hold the glove closed so no air escapes

3.Squeeze the fingers, thumb, and palm to check for air leaks

4.Listen for hissing sounds—any air escape means failure

5.Observe the glove while inflated—look for bulges or thinning spots

If you detect any air leak, reject the glove immediately. Do not use it .


Part 3: Proper Storage—Where Gloves Go to Last

How you store gloves is as important as how you use them. Poor storage is a leading cause of premature glove failure.
